Hello and welcome to Ballucci! My name is Dewald and I'm the Founder and Owner of Ballucci Coffee Bar & Lounge. I’m originally from Cape Town in South Africa, but moved to London in 1995 and i've been a proud Brit ever since.  My career history has always involved food and people.  I started in the catering industry aged 16 working part-time during school holidays and then when I turned 18,I moved to London and joined the catering industry full time.


In 1999 I furthered my studies as an Interior Designer and worked in the field for about a year, but I genuinely missed the face to face customer service interaction.  I went back into a customer facing role, but this time 37000 feet up in the air!  I joined the airline industry and worked my way up to an on-board manager where I gained valuable experience in customer service and managing people. At the beginning of 2015 I decided, one evening while chatting to a friend, that I want to be a business owner!


With my experience in Catering, Customer Service, Interior Design, managing people and being a coffee junkie it was very clear that I am destined to open a Coffee Bar. I have all the experience to offer a great product, outstanding customer service and create the perfect ambience with carefully selected lighting, décor and music.


I was determined to make my dream come true and by the end of 2016 I left British Airways to start my new venture.  Trust me when I say it was not an easy decision to make!  It was a huge change and very soon I found out that it was not all that easy as one might have thought.  I had to learn about so much in such a short space of time.  So much has gone wrong and I was on the verge of giving up several times, but through perseverance, I managed to push through!


Ballucci is now my baby and you will find me very often, in the shop, doing what I enjoy most.  The Ballucci conecpt has come a long way, but it was all worth it.  Even though I have all this experience, neither me nor my staff are perfect and we’ll probably make some mistakes but we will always listen and try to make things better.  Because Ballucci is all about you, the customer!
